THE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

Delivered in partnership with leading employers from the health and medical sector and some of the top UK University Medical Schools, we are delighted to open The School of Medicine at West Lancashire College.

The 2 year programme offers much more than standard A Levels and gives those wishing to progress to medical school as an undergraduate a distinct competitive edge.

The first of its kind, The School of Medicine offers unique work experience in a variety of roles within the medical industry with placements within the NHS, Virgin Care and West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group, and workshops and seminars delivered by Doctors and Professors from The UCLan School of Medicine and Edge Hill University School of Medicine.

Course Content

On the School of Medicine you will study a combination of the following A Levels:

A Level Biology
A Level Chemistry
and
A Level Maths
or
A Level Psychology

Entry Requirements

Applicants will require 44 points from their best 8 GCSEs, with a Grade 7 or above in English, Maths and Science, ideally from Triple Science, however Double Award Science will be considered.

Learning & Assessment Methods

You will learn through a combination of lectures, practical’s, workshops, discussion and external visits.

Qualifications Gained

Relevant A Levels chosen from:

A Level Biology 
A Level Chemistry
and
A Level Maths
or
A Level Psychology

Progression Opportunities

Students may wish to progress to Medical Schools such as Edge Hill University, University of Central Lancashire, University of Liverpool and University of Lancaster.
