    More about the course

     

    Our Care and Early Years Level 1 course is an ideal introduction for anyone interested in working with children and supporting their learning and development. Designed for beginners, the course will help you develop a basic understanding of children's growth, care needs and early learning, while building the confidence required to progress within the sector.

    You'll explore topics such as child development, health and safety, care routines, and the importance of play in supporting learning. Alongside this, you'll develop valuable employability skills including communication, teamwork, problem-solving and professionalism. The course provides a strong foundation for progression to higher-level Early Years and Childcare qualifications, apprenticeships or future employment within the care and education sectors.

    With over 12 years of experience in education, I am passionate about teaching and supporting learners from all walks of life. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with individuals in recovery, people from a wide range of health backgrounds, and aspiring professionals looking to enter the health sector. My goal is to empower learners to thrive, grow in confidence, and achieve their full potential. I am committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that enables students to develop the knowledge, skills, and resilience needed to take meaningful steps towards their future careers. Supporting learners as they progress and achieve their ambitions is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role.

    I joined West Lancashire College in August 2024 with a strong passion for teaching, inspired by my own educational experiences growing up. I studied Primary Education (Early Years) with QTS at Edge Hill University, specialising in Early Years education. Throughout my degree, I completed a range of modules covering child development and learning from birth to seven years of age, alongside a specialist placement supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). These experiences helped me develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to support young children in reaching their full potential. I am passionate about creating engaging and nurturing learning environments where every learner can thrive, develop confidence, and achieve success.

    I have worked at West Lancashire College since March 2010 and have been part of the Early Years and Education sector for many years. I gain great satisfaction from teaching our students and equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they need to succeed and reach their full potential. I feel privileged to work with such wonderful students and to play a part in their learning journey. It is incredibly rewarding to see them grow and develop into confident, skilled, and competent Early Years and Education practitioners, ready to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
