From 19-23 October, West Lancashire College is celebrating the successes of their T Level students as part of national T Level Week, and highlighting the positive impact that these advanced level qualifications are having on their futures.

West Lancashire College launched T Levels in September 2023 and offers a range of industry-focused courses designed to prepare for university, apprenticeships and employment. Current T Level pathways available at the College include Management and Administration, Digital Production, Design and Development, Early Years Educator, Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing, Marketing, and Supporting the Therapy Teams.

T Levels are 2-year qualifications designed for students aged 16 to 19 who have completed their GCSEs. Equivalent in size and worth the same UCAS points as three A Levels, T Levels have been developed in partnership with employers to ensure students gain the knowledge and skills that industry demands. Combining classroom-based learning with valuable real-world experience, every T Level includes a substantial industry placement of at least forty-five days with an employer. This blend of academic study and practical experience helps students build confidence, develop professional skills and prepare for their next steps, whether that's moving into skilled employment, progressing to higher education or securing an apprenticeship.

T Level students at West Lancashire College are currently gaining valuable industry experience through placements with a range of local employers, including The Secret Garden Glamping, Hotter Shoes, Beacon Community Hubs, Delph Side Primary School, Ravenscroft Community and Town Green Primary School. These placements provide students with the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in real-world settings, develop essential workplace skills and build confidence while gaining first-hand insight into their chosen career paths.

Wendy Bennett, Assistant Principal said “We are incredibly proud of the impact T Levels are having on our students, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and real-world experience needed to progress into employment, apprenticeships or higher education. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our employer partners for their invaluable support in providing students industry placements, helping to develop future talent while making a positive contribution to our local economy and skills development.”

To celebrate T Level Week, the College are showcasing their current and alumni students on Facebook and Instagram and they encourage other education providers to get involved with #TLevelsWeek
