Sports staff and students from West Lancashire College were delighted to support Lathom High School at their Year 11 Proud Day.

Lathom High’s ‘Proud Day’ is an important element of their pupil’s Personal Development curriculum, in which they are given the opportunity to work in different ways throughout the academic year.

The college’s Sports Team offered pupils a series of high-energy mini-Sports activities including a HIIT workout, trampoline session, as well as a pedal-bike session which resulted in the creation of the student’s own smoothie!

The day was a great success with the Lathom pupils, as the sessions focused on physical health, as well as mental health which is vital for those studying towards upcoming exams. The Level 2 & 3 Sports students from the college gained some valuable coaching and delivery sessions and really enjoyed their time at the school.

Jane Galbraith, Headteacher at Lathom High School commented “we are delighted that West Lancs College were able to support our most recent Proud Day and, in particular our Year 11 students, as they prepare for their GCSE exams. Our students loved the sessions and will be able to use what they learned to look after themselves and deal more effectively with the pressure of the exam season.”

Neil Farrell, Curriculum Manager for Creative Service Industries added, “the opportunity to support Lathom’s Proud Day was greatly received by the Sports team at West Lancashire College. The focus of the day was to provide information about health, wellbeing, and mental health and how to use these tools preparing for and during the examination period. Our Sports students presented themselves very well and, as always, were a great asset to the college.”
