Students at West Lancashire College Creative Arts department are currently installing a fantastic exhibition of their artwork and this year the theme for many of the pieces in the show is ‘Identity.’
Developing creative arts skills is a key way for young people in particular to find their own voice and make sense of themselves and their world, art student Lotte Masson believes that the project gave her the opportunity to ‘explore my perception of myself through the use of my favourite media and the process of producing large scale paintings that I’d not had the chance to do before.’
All of the students are relishing the opportunity to stage the exhibition at the College and invite the community in to see their work.
Student Joseph Blundell has said, “it will be the best way to show how far we've progressed since starting on our courses, and we’ll be able to showcase all of the different art styles and mediums students use here.”
The show will include paintings, illustrations, comic art, photography, animations and much more, and everyone from the community is welcome to come and see the work for themselves when the show opens with its launch event at College Way, Skelmersdale WN8 6DX on Wednesday June 15th 5.30pm-8pm. The students work can also be viewed at the West Lancashire College campus on weekdays 10am to 4pm from Thursday 16th June to Friday 1st July, and all are welcome.
