West Lancashire College students recently participated in NCG Community Week as part of the NCG Guarantee, a brilliant opportunity for them to build confidence, develop real-world skills, and experience a genuine sense of belonging.

Throughout the week, students from various subject areas, including Motor Vehicle, Electrical, Foundation Learning, and Aspire, worked on a number of activities which included litter picking, cleaning the college bus, hosting a car wash, and upcycling furniture to donate to charity.

All students studying at West Lancashire College benefit from the NCG Guarantee. This guarantee gives students access to a range of tools and initiatives centred around a core set of principles. The courses, additional support services and enrichment activities equip students with a wider set of skills, all of which aim to make them more employable. Throughout their time at the college, students will be involved in a range of projects and initiatives focused on the NCG principles. Coupled with excellent teaching and learning, it is the college’s aim that students complete their course with a unique set of skills which help set them up for a successful future.

Wendy Bennett, Assistant Principal at West Lancashire College said, “NCG Community Week is a fantastic opportunity for our students to step beyond the classroom and make a real difference locally. By giving back to the community, they’re not only supporting vital organisations and residents, but also developing skills, confidence, and a strong sense of civic responsibility. We are incredibly proud of how our students represent West Lancashire College and the positive impact they continue to have across the area.”

The NCG Guarantee is kindly sponsored by City & Guilds, a global leader in skills development. Their involvement highlights the quality of the NCG Guarantee and reinforces the importance of equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
