West Lancashire College will be hosting the exhibition of the winners of the Rotary Young Artists Competition on the 21st of February, which is in a collaboration between Rotary Ormskirk Clocktower, 11 local primary schools and the students at the college’s Art and Design department.

The national competition is designed to encourage young people to be creative, develop 2D art-making skills and express themselves and the theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘Rebuilding.’ Heats have been held all over the UK and the winner from this year’s local entries will progress to a District Final and possibly even on to the National Final later in the year.

Rotary Ormskirk Clocktower approached West Lancashire College’s Art department to ask them if they would mount the 75 chosen entries and install the exhibition at their campus. Louise Curran, one of the college’s Art and Design Lecturers, has said, “we are so pleased to work with Rotary on this! The opportunity provides our students with a tremendous chance to develop their skills in staging an exhibition for the local community. It’s so lovely that our students can help budding artists from around the area to display their work in a professional way and in a fabulous setting.”

The exhibition will begin with a public launch event on Wednesday 21st February from 4.45pm until 5.45pm. The exhibition will then be open Monday-Thursday 10am to 4pm until Wednesday 6th March at West Lancashire College, College Way, Skelmersdale WN8 6DX, and everyone welcome to attend. On arrival to the college please report to Learner Services at the front of the campus.
