West Lancashire College are pleased to be hosting the winner’s exhibition of the Rotary Young Artists Competition, which is a collaboration between Rotary Ormskirk Clocktower, 7 local primary schools and students from the Level 3 Art and Design course at the College.
The national competition is designed to encourage young people to be creative, develop 2D art-making skills and express themselves, the theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘Happiness in Nature.’ Heats have been held all over the UK and the winner from this year’s local entries will progress to a District Final, with the opportunity to progress to the National Final later in the year.
Gary Owens, Art and Design lecturer said, “Working with the Rotary Clocktower Ormskirk team on this exhibition has given our students a valuable opportunity to gain work experience as gallery assistants, while developing professional skills in image mounting and exhibition installation for a client. All of the students were impressed and moved by the quality of the artwork produced by the schoolchildren. They worked collaboratively and diligently to meet the deadline, and we are very proud of their dedication and commitment to their work experience.”
Students from the College’s Level 3 Art and Design course have mounted and installed the artwork for the show as part of their annual work experience.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Wednesday 4th and Wednesday 11th March 2026 from 4pm until 5pm at West Lancashire College, College Way, Skelmersdale WN8 6DX, and everyone welcome to attend. On arrival to the college, please report to Learner Services at the front of the campus.
