Apprentices at West Lancashire College celebrated their incredible achievements through their 23-24 academic year at an intimate award ceremony, held at the college this week.

The evening was supported by guest speakers Mark Aberdein from the Institute of Apprenticeships & Technical Education and Gemma Hill from the Construction Industry Training Board, who provided insightful talks about Apprenticeships.

With 11 award categories, apprentices were praised for their accomplishments, exceptional behaviour, and improvement towards their Apprenticeship. The list of awards included: Construction Apprentice of the Year, Engineering Apprentice of the Year, Professional Services Apprentice of the Year, Creative Industries Apprentice of the Year, Best Newcomer Apprentice, Most Improved Apprentice, Small Employer of the Year, Medium Size Employer of the Year, Large Employer of the Year, Employer Choice Apprentice of the Year and Apprentice Choice WBL Staff Member of the Year.

Nominees were also recognised at the award ceremony for Apprenticeship Employer of the Year and Employer Choice Apprentice of the Year, in which they received a certificate.

The event was attended by Apprentices, their family and friends, their teachers, and the companies who they work with on a daily basis in an intimate transformation of The Works. The evening was kindly sponsored by CEF, and was hosted by Vice Principal Gareth Sutton, and winners were presented with a trophy and certificate by Nigel Jackson, Apprenticeship Curriculum Manager at West Lancashire College, alongside Mark Aberdein and Gemma Hill.

The college have expressed their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all of the parents, carers, and families, and also the employers of the students for providing them with continued support for our Apprentices.
