West Lancashire College recently hosted a Health Conference for their current Health and Social Care students.

The aim of the Health Conference was to introduce current Health and Social Care students to the various roles within the health, social, care and medicine within the NHS and private sector, which will hopefully broaden their horizons as they take the next step in their Health and Medicine career.

The college invited a number of guest speakers lined up to provide students with a wealth of information on how their career journey has taken them to their present role, plus advice on how they can reach your chosen career aspiration.

The guest speakers included:

  • Professor Sarah O'Brien, Chief Nursing Officer from NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board
  • Doctor Elizabeth MacPhie, Consultant Rheumatologist at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust
  • Doctor Sean Abrathat, General Practitioner Urgent Treatment Centre at HCRG Care Group
  • Sarah James, Integrated Place Leader at Central Lancashire NHS
  • Steve Benge, Population Health Intelligence Advisor at West Lancashire Borough Council
  • Faye Elliott - Clinical Lead at West Lancashire Podiatry HCRG Care Group
  • Suzanne Robinson - Primary Health Care Facilitator at Mersey Care NHS Trust
  • Leon Pietrzak - Youth Development Manager at NHS England
  • Rebecca Davies - Registered Care Manager at Home Instead
  • Niamh Gallagher, Education Liaison Officer at Edge Hill University
