Art students from West Lancashire College are preparing to have their work displayed in two exhibitions in the town centre in the coming weeks and invite the local community to come and view their fabulous creations!
The College will stage their own annual end of year exhibition at their campus in Skelmersdale, with a special launch event on the evening of Thursday 15th June 5.30pm-7pm. The event is open to the public and provides a terrific opportunity to see outstanding artwork created by College Art students in a wide range of mediums including photography, fashion, graphics, fine art, architecture, illustration, and filmmaking.
If you cannot make that evening, the exhibition is also open to the public 10am – 4pm on weekdays from Friday 16th June to Friday 30th June.
The students have also made work for an exhibition to be held at the Concourse Shopping Centre entitled ‘Our Lives through the Royal Years.’ The exhibition is the culmination of a Heritage Fund project staged by The Sewing Rooms, which aims to reflect 70 years of Skelmersdale heritage during the reign of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The exhibition will be held at the Concourse and opens to the public at 2 pm on Friday 19th May. West Lancashire College Art students have produced street photography for the show and will have their work displayed alongside that of other Skelmersdale residents.
Course leader Gary Owens knows how important it is for College Art students to be able to show their work to an audience and commented, “Skelmersdale has always been a hub of creativity and it is terrific for our students to be able to present their work in these two shows. It is so pleasing to be able to celebrate positive stories about local teenagers, being creative and working together to build a better future for themselves.”
