As part of the Association of Colleges' Adult Learning Week of Action, NCG Online Learning is highlighting how adult learning can help people gain new skills, build confidence and pursue new career paths.
NCG Online Learning, which is part of NCG, one of the largest education and training organisations in the UK, and includes West Lancashire College, provides flexible online courses for adults 19+. Students can choose to study from five key sectors including Health and Social Care, Education, Digital, Early Years Education and Business, widening access to a range of opportunities to develop their knowledge, skills and prospects.
One learner, Matthew, has used online learning qualifications to begin a transition from administrative roles into the health and fitness industry. Alongside completing a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, Matthew recently completed a Level 2 Certificate in Health and Nutrition with NCG Online Learning to strengthen his knowledge and support his future aspirations.
Matthew commented "My background has mainly been in administrative roles, but I recently decided to pursue a different career path in health and fitness. Alongside completing a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, the Level 2 Health and Nutrition course has helped me build my knowledge and improve my employment prospects.
The course was flexible, easy to access and I felt well supported throughout. Completing these qualifications has given me the confidence to take the next step towards a future in the health and fitness sector."
Matthew's experience demonstrates how adult learning can help people build confidence, gain industry knowledge and pursue new employment opportunities at any stage of life.
Across the country, adults are returning to learning to retrain, upskill and explore new career opportunities, proving that it is never too late to learn.
