The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is an introductory teaching qualification designed for individuals who are new to teaching, training, or facilitating learning in the further education and skills sector. It provides a solid foundation of knowledge and skills for those looking to begin a career in teaching or for practitioners who support learning in a classroom, workplace, or community setting.
Course information
Learning will take place via an online platform, and you will be able to learn at a time that suits you without the need to attend college.
At the start of your course, you will be allocated a tutor who will support you through your qualification, and you will be provided with all learning and assessment materials which have been specifically developed to support you in meeting the qualification requirements.
Your tutor will also provide you with written feedback on the assessments you submit, as well as ongoing support through a remote tutorial.
How often does this course run?

Entry requirements
- Must be aged 19 or above to enrol on this qualification
- Hold Level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications in both Maths and English
- Possess a reasonable level of digital skills
- Achieved at least a Level 3 qualification in the subject area they intend to teach

What can I do with a qualification in Early Years Education?
Daily tasks:
- Assists with or plans and develops curriculum and rota of teaching duties.
- Discusses progress with student, parents and/or other education professionals.
- Supervises teaching assistants and trainees.
- Undertakes pastoral duties.
- Teaches simple songs and rhymes, reads stories and organises various activities to promote language, social and physical development.
- Supervises students and maintains classroom discipline.
- Maintains records of students.
- Prepares students for external examinations and administers and invigilates these examinations.
- Prepares, assigns and corrects exercises and examinations to record and evaluate students.
- Prepares and delivers courses and lessons in accordance with curriculum requirements and teaches a range of subjects.
