The Level 3 course is a 2-year programme and if successful, it can lead to progression onto a relevant degree at a Higher Education institute, entrance into public services as potential Officers in public services organisations, enter university on a range of courses, apprenticeships or related programmes.
The course consists of a combination of tutored lessons, guest speakers by public service organisations and the development of a range of skills required for entrance into the public services. The course further develops your fitness training to help you in the entrance tests to gaining employment.
There are visits to public organisation centres such as Fire and Rescue Services; Outdoor Activity centres to take part in navigations and activity days at RAF Aintree to develop team building skills.
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 4-9, including English and/or Maths
What will I achieve?
If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services.
This Level 3 qualification is available for a BTEC Combination. If you are unsure of your options, we have advice and guidance staff who will be happy to talk you through them:
- Public Services BTEC
- BTEC National Diploma Level 3 (Major), plus Psychology (Applied) National Certificate Level 3

Where can I progress?
Students who successfully complete the course are given support and guidance regarding potential careers opportunities and further study opportunities and at our annual careers and progression fair.
If you are 16-18 years old, you do not have to pay course tuition fees*.
