Our Inclusive Learning programmes are designed to help every student achieve their full potential in a supportive, nurturing and inclusive environment. With an excellent track record of student success, we provide high-quality learning experiences that develop confidence, independence and the skills needed for the future.

Inclusive Learning is a valued part of life at West Lancashire College. We offer a range of tailored programmes for students aged 16-24, as well as adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, ensuring that every learner receives the support they need to thrive.

Based on campus, students benefit from specialist facilities, dedicated resources and practical vocational experiences that make learning engaging, relevant and meaningful. Our flexible curriculum is designed to build strong foundations for the future, helping students develop essential life, social and employability skills.

Neil Farrell

Head of Curriculum for Creative Service Industries

Having studied Sport and Exercise Science at both college and university, I began my career in the sport and active leisure sector before moving into education. During my time at West Lancashire College, I have managed a diverse range of curriculum areas and learning provision. My experience has included 16 to 18 provision, adult education, apprenticeships, Higher Education, community learning programmes, and provision for young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This broad experience has given me a deep understanding of the varied educational pathways available and the importance of creating opportunities for all learners to succeed. I firmly believe that education has the power to transform lives and that everyone should have access to high-quality learning opportunities. I am passionate about supporting learners to achieve their goals, realise their potential, and progress towards successful futures, regardless of their starting point.

Head of Curriculum for Health, Education and Foundation Learning

I am an experienced educator with a background in the health and care sectors. I am passionate about supporting learners on their educational journey and take great satisfaction in seeing them achieve their goals and progress into rewarding careers. I am proud to be part of a highly effective team that combines high expectations with a caring and nurturing approach. Together, we strive to equip our learners with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to recognise their potential, achieve their ambitions, and succeed in their future careers.

Jane Kasper

Additional Learning Support & High Needs Manager

The inspiration behind my role as Additional Learning Support and High Needs Manager is the young people and adults I work with every day. I feel privileged to support them alongside a dedicated and committed team of support staff, helping those who face barriers to learning overcome challenges, build confidence, and believe in their own abilities. Our aim is to empower learners to become successful, achieve positive outcomes, and make progress towards their employment aspirations, career goals, independence, and wider life ambitions. Every learner who works with my team is unique, and one of the most rewarding aspects of the role is tailoring support to meet individual needs and help each person reach their full potential. Everything we do is centred on inclusivity, equality of opportunity, and learner success. No two days are ever the same, and after 16 years in the role, I remain just as passionate and committed as I was on my very first day.

Tina Vos

Coordinator and Tutor for Inclusive learners and Supported Interns

During my time at West Lancashire College, I have undertaken a variety of roles to ensure I have developed a broad understanding of the College and its learners. I currently work within the Inclusive Learning team, providing support for the Supported Internship Programme. In this role, I help students develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to progress into employment or voluntary work within the local community. I am passionate about supporting learners to achieve their goals and realise their full potential. I am also a qualified First Aider and Mental Health First Aider, enabling me to provide additional support and guidance to students as part of their educational journey.

Katie Hampson

Inclusive Learning Lecturer

As a lecturer at West Lancashire College, I coordinate and design an outstanding curriculum for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD). I hold a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training from Edge Hill University and have over 15 years of experience within the education sector. My core strengths include specialist education, empathy, teamwork, communication, organisational skills, adaptability, flexibility, and leadership. In my current role, I deliver high-quality knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) that support and enhance individual learner outcomes. I create a strong focus on intent, implementation, and impact to maximise learner success, while embedding Cognitive Stimulation Therapy within my practice. I work closely with colleagues and local communities to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. I am passionate about helping learners overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. As a member of the Institute of Leadership & Management, I bring a broad range of perspectives and experiences to my role. I also coach and mentor aspiring leaders through the NCG Leadership Hub, supporting their professional development and helping them become effective future leaders.
