West Lancashire College offer English and Maths Adult courses to those over the age of 19 and for any students aged between 16-18.

The adult courses are ideal for students who would like to improve their skills and be taught about letter writing, the use of grammar and punctuation, how to budget money, VAT, plus much more. Our Maths A Level course is an exciting and challenging subject that will help students in developing your understanding in a way that will help your confidence and will be thoroughly enjoyable. You will extend your Maths skills and techniques building upon your GCSE and in particular, you will rely on your algebraic skills. You will also be able to recognise how a real-life situation may be represented mathematically.

What can I do with a qualification in English and Maths?

Daily tasks:

  • Provides communication support for the hard of hearing or the visually impaired.
  • Converts documents or spoken statements from original or source language into another language.
  • Writes instruction manuals and user guides, technical reports, catalogues and indexes, prepares sales literature and writes technical articles for trade journals.
  • Negotiates contracts with freelance agents and with buyer on behalf of writer.
  • Selects material for publication, checks style, grammar and accuracy of content, arranges for any necessary revisions and checks proof copies before printing.
  • Generates and develops creative ideas for literary material.
  • Determines subject matter and researches as necessary by interviewing, attending public events, seeking out records, observing etc..
