West Lancashire College has announced the launch of an exciting new Football Academy, giving aspiring footballers the opportunity to combine their education with elite-level training in partnership with Skelmersdale United FC.
The new academy has been created for ambitious young people who are passionate about football and looking to build a future in the sport or wider sporting industry, while continuing to gain valuable qualifications.
Through the partnership with Skelmersdale United FC, students will have access to a professionally structured football programme alongside their chosen college course, allowing them to pursue their academic and sporting ambitions at the same time.
Successful students will train and compete for more than 10 hours each week, benefiting from expert coaching, strength and conditioning sessions, nutritional guidance and sports psychology support. Academy players will also represent the college in the Northwest Further Education College League, competing against other colleges across the region.
The Football Academy aims to provide a clear pathway for talented players to progress into amateur and semi-professional football, while also opening doors to careers in coaching, sports science, fitness, physiotherapy and sports management.
