West Lancashire College invites members of the local community and school pupils to join them on Monday 12th October between 4.30pm and 7pm for their first Open Event of the 2026/27 academic year.
As an award-winning institution, the College offers a diverse range of study programmes tailored to school leavers. From BTECs, Apprenticeships and T Levels to Advanced Level 3 qualifications, and there are pathways to suit every interest, ambition and career goal. For those who are still exploring their options, the College’s dedicated Learner Services team will be on hand to provide expert guidance and support, helping prospective students make informed decisions about their future.
At the event, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the College’s multi-million-pound investment and explore its outstanding facilities, including The Terrace, The Works Restaurant and a range of specialist classrooms and workshops. Guests will also be among the first to experience a preview of the College’s brand-new, state-of-the-art Gym & Fitness Suite.
Attendees can also see learning brought to life through live demonstrations throughout the college, including by their current students in the Hair & Beauty Lounge, where visitors will have the chance to enjoy a treatment or book an appointment. The event offers a unique opportunity to experience the College’s industry-standard environments and discover how students develop the skills needed for future success.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover the exceptional wrap-around support available to students, from wellbeing and careers guidance to dedicated learning assistance, helping every learner reach their full potential. Attendees can learn more about the College’s outstanding results and high levels of student satisfaction, while hearing directly from current students as they share their experiences and successes. Guests will also be able to find out about the exciting new Football Academy, delivered in partnership with Skelmersdale United, which offers aspiring footballers the chance to combine their studies with elite-level training.
The first Open Event of the academic year will also feature a welcome talk from the Principal, Christian Thersby, taking place at both 5pm and 6pm, providing an insight into the College’s vision, achievements and opportunities for future students.
Complimentary refreshments will be available throughout the evening, including delicious homemade pizza prepared by the College’s talented Hospitality and Catering students. Visitors can also enjoy popcorn and sweet candy floss while exploring the campus facilities and talking to members of the curriculum team. A complimentary goodie bag awaits guests, helping to create a fun, welcoming and memorable experience for prospective students and their families.
