This Level 1 qualification is for students that have an interest or would like to explore working in the fields of either childcare or health and social care.

- 4 GCSEs at Grade 2-9, including English and/or Maths
What will I achieve?
If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a Level 1 Certificate in Caring for Children under Five and a Certificate in the Introduction into Health and Social Care.

Disclosure and Barring (DBS)
Students applying for this course undertake work placements with children and vulnerable people as part of their course. It is a requirement that all students complete a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check to confirm they do not have any cautions or convictions which would put in question their suitability to work in these areas. Students who do have convictions may not be able to complete this course.
You will need to provide three ID documents. These can include; birth certificate, driving License, passport, bank statement or a letter.

If you are 16-18 years old, you do not have to pay course tuition fees*.

I began my career as a Registered General Nurse, with over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field. Within that time, I have developed a strong foundation in medical knowledge and nursing skills. Throughout my career, I have worked in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and long-term care facilities. My areas of expertise including medical-surgical nursing. I have cared for patients with diverse medical conditions, providing them with personalised and holistic care. As a new member of the Health and Social Care team at West Lancashire College, I am delighted to be teaching on the Level 2 and Level 3 courses, as well as being the Clinical Educator for Health T Levels.
