More about the course
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is an introductory teaching qualification designed for individuals who are new to teaching, training, or facilitating learning in the further education and skills sector. It provides a solid foundation of knowledge and skills for those looking to begin a career in teaching or for practitioners who support learning in a classroom, workplace, or community setting.
Course information
Learners benefit from a blended approach that combines flexible online study with interactive face‑to‑face workshops. The online element includes video lessons, reading materials, quizzes, and virtual seminars, introducing key concepts such as teaching roles, lesson planning, inclusion, and assessment. Learners can study at their own pace while still receiving tutor support and engaging in discussions with peers.
Face‑to‑face sessions focus on developing practical teaching skills through group activities, collaborative tasks, and the required micro‑teach. During the micro‑teach, learners plan and deliver a short teaching session and receive constructive feedback, helping to build confidence and refine their approach.
Overall, this blended format balances independent learning with hands‑on experience, providing a flexible yet supportive pathway into teaching.
