    Meet our Social Sciences students and tutors

    Social Sciences Lecturer

    I am a dedicated and passionate educator, currently in my first year of teaching Social Sciences, including Psychology, Criminology and Sociology. I aim to inspire students to think critically about the world around them. I am thrilled to be teaching at West Lancashire College and look forward to contributing to the academic and personal growth of students during their time at the college.

    I chose to study Social Sciences as I'm really interested in Biology and Psychology, plus I have an overall goal of studying Medicine. This course has a lot of opportunities for trips that relate to the course. We've been to Edge Hill University and I enjoyed the tour of their Psychology department. I'll be finishing my Social Sciences course in Summer 2026 and from there I plan to attend University to study Biology or Genetic, then I want to take a post-graduate Medicine course.

    As I have a strong interest in learning about crime and forensics, Social Sciences seemed like the perfect course for me. I have enjoyed the guest speaker from Greater Manchester Police and doing work placement at St John's C of E Primary School. I have a goal of attending Forensics at University.

    I chose this course because I’ve always enjoyed Psychology and I knew from a young age that it’s what I wanted to study and it’ll provide me with a path towards university. The connections with universities have given me an insight into areas that I didn’t know about previously and it’s given me a lot of options for my future. My plan is to attend University to study Biology, then switch to Medicine which would then allow me to study Psychiatry.

    I chose the course because I’ve always been really interested in crime, the mind and my favourite subject in high school was biology. The things I’ve enjoyed about the course so far is the research tasks. The teachers really widen your learning and help us as a class to understand the media coverage or retaliation to the action, most of the research tasks have discussion questions for us as a class to work on and hear each other’s perspectives.
