We've got lots of guides available that will help you prepare for interviews and applications, but here are our top five tips:

Prepare, prepare, prepare!
This means researching the business and the role or department you're interested in. This way, you'll know who you'll be working for, what their aims and goals are and an overview of how you can help them achieve those goals.

Understand your role
Really read that job description thoroughly. Chances are you've already done this for your application but make sure you can clearly answer how your skills and experience match up with what the employer is looking for. Make some notes so you can sound confident when you're talking and be honest if there are some areas you're not quite sure on just yet. A willingness to learn is important!

Ask questions
Remember that an interview is a conversation and you'll have a chance to ask questions too. It's important that you understand the company and your role and you're also assessing whether you'll enjoy working there if you're offered the position. Asking questions shows you're really interested. Some great questions are asking what your typical day could look like, who you'll be working with and whether you may have a chance of a permanent position when you complete your apprenticeship.

Be on time!
It sounds simple but always plan for the unexpected. Give yourself plenty of time and if you're driving, make sure you know more than one route in case there's traffic or unexpected road closures. Have fares ready for public transport and again, know how you can get there if your bus doesn't turn up or breaks down.

Be professional
As well as being on time, make sure you have everything with you that you may need, such as a copy of your CV, your notes and any documents you've been asked to bring. Dress smartly, tidy your hair and try not to smoke beforehand, especially not outside of the building! Turn off your phone, be polite and smile, you're ready!
