West Lancashire College were delighted to welcome Daniel Sarginson, a former professional international rugby league player, onto campus to deliver inspirational guest talks to students in support of the NCG Guarantee for Mental Wellbeing.

Dan made the decision to retire early at the age of 29 after an amazing career with over 200 Super League appearances, 2 Grand Final wins and 3 England caps. Despite his achievements, he found that success on the field didn’t automatically bring peace of mind and a life experience inspired his new passion. He decided to help others to maximise performance, build psychologically safe environments and strengthen human connection through openness and vulnerability.

Students and staff at the College found Dan’s story to be powerful, honest and deeply relevant to their continued commitment to support mental wellbeing and sustainable high performance.

Wendy Bennett, Assistant Principal said, “It was absolutely fabulous to meet Dan. He was such an incredible inspiration to both our young learners and our staff, with his story resonating with everyone of the room and it reminded us of the power of resilience, ambition and self-belief.”
