West Lancashire College are delighted to share the news that two of their T Level Health students, Taylor and Chloe, have been accepted onto the Northwest Ambulance Service NHS Trust Service Cadet programme.

The former Our Lady Queen of Peace pupils will start their placement this month, running until the end of the year, and this will provide them with valuable frontline experience. After completion of the programme, they will both receive a guaranteed EMT apprenticeship interview.

Speaking about the exciting news, Taylor and Chloe collectively said, “We’re looking forward to the emergency services part of the placement, as it will help us adapt to thinking on our feet and dealing with the emotions involved in different jobs and calls. We’re also excited to build relationships with other paramedics and hear about their stories and experiences, while gaining valuable hands-on experience.”

Studying a T Level at West Lancashire College allows students to spend 80% of their time in the classroom and 20% on an industry placement, ensuring that crucial skills, knowledge, and behaviours are developed in preparation for the working world.

Paula Cunningham, Health and Social Care Lecturer at West Lancashire College, said, “I’m absolutely delighted and incredibly excited that Taylor and Chloe have accepted their places on the Northwest Ambulance Service NHS Trust Service Cadet programme. Both students are exceptionally hardworking and dedicated, and this prestigious opportunity is a true reflection of their commitment and determination. Taking part in the Service Cadet programme will be a transformative experience that will significantly enhance their studies, develop their practical skills, and support them in achieving a successful and rewarding career in healthcare.”
