Throughout December, the Christmas spirit has been in full swing at West Lancashire College with Health and Social Care students organising donations for the Food Bank, the annual Student Celebration including a staff Nativity, as well as heart-warming donations for those students in need this Christmas.
In the UK last year, over 3 million people used a foodbank to support their basic needs. As in previous years, the college collected food items for those in need over the Christmas period, with the initial offer going to the families of their students and then to Skelmersdale Food Bank. The items donated included store cupboard basics, toiletries plus lots of festive treats.
Staff at the college as well as many local businesses, also kindly donated items to their annual Mission Christmas appeal, which were then carefully packaged into 24 gift bags, full of heart-warming goodies, and distributed to those in need of support and some Christmas magic.
The college’s annual Student Christmas Celebration was a great success, filled with lots of festive games, including Christmas crafts created by staff and students, as well as the wonderful staff rendition of the Nativity. The performance was supported by the lovely choir from St James’ Primary School and a special thank you goes to Reverend Paul for his superb director skills.
The College would like to thank Stuart Energy Limited, Great Bear Distribution, Climarite Refrigeration and PepsiCo for their generous donations to their various Christmas appeals.
