Dyspraxia Awareness Level 1

There are no entry requirements for this course as it is open to all individuals who are interested in learning about dyspraxia awareness.

If you successfully complete this course, students will be equipped with the foundational and advanced skills and knowledge to support dyspraxic individuals effectively, creating more inclusive and supportive environments.

Level 1: Introduction to Dyspraxia Awareness

Introduction to Dyspraxia

• Overview of dyspraxia as a developmental coordination disorder
• Introduction to the course and its objectives
• Self-assessment of current knowledge and understanding

Understanding Dyspraxia

• Definition and characteristics of dyspraxia
• Common myths and misconceptions
• The cognitive and physical profile of dyspraxic individuals
• Identifying signs and symptoms of dyspraxia

Impact of Dyspraxia

•  Effects of dyspraxia on learning and academic performance
• Emotional and social impact of dyspraxia
• Challenges faced by dyspraxic individuals in different settings
• Understanding individual differences and strengths

Legal and Ethical Considerations

• Overview of relevant legislation and policies
• Rights and responsibilities of educators and employers
• Ethical considerations in supporting dyspraxic individuals
• Promoting equality and inclusion

Supporting Dyspraxic Individuals

If you successfully complete the Dyspraxia Awareness Level 1 course, there are opportunities to progress on to higher levels of learning or further, developmental courses within the college. Alternatively, this may be used to enhance current or future employment/opportunities for employment in a variety of sectors.

The cost of this course is £17.50. This course may be free if you are on an income related benefit, or a low income of less than £25,000 per annum.

Adult Funding Changes

Due to changes in Government funding from 1st August 2019, students who resident in some postcodes in Merseyside and Greater Manchester may be unable to access funding from training providers and colleges in Lancashire and may have to pay all associated course and support costs.
